So what cosmetic flaws are we talking about?
So, will we qualify as a Composite boat by the time we're done?

A bit of minor rot at the top edges where the ply is exposed and some peeling paint. Nothing too substantial that epoxy can't fill, and a fresh coat of paint won't fix.

A couple of solid enough fiberglass patches that will need some interior cleanup if we get fancy.

The hull could do with a decent fairing and some new paint but after 33 years it's probably due. We plan on refinishing the hull by stripping back the paint, a new epoxy seal, then an epoxy with sandable microfibers to give us a good and strong surface for the paint job to follow.

And an external fiberglass patch that will get hidden when the cosmetics get done.

All to be taken in the context of the repairs now needed thanks to us punching a hole in the hull. Still, when that's patched, the same refinishing will apply. We'll probably not do the elegant stuff (if that's possible for us) until later - for now we're more interested in getting it functional.
